We have some promo matches to play. When are you guys gonna be around? On weekdays I'll be available until about 5pm cst. This weekend I should be around until 8-9 pm cst, depending on how long I can stay awake.
If there is no other way I can also play around midnight cst but that's early morning (7am) for me and I'd like to avoid playing around that time if at all possible, not a morning person

That's very kind of the algorithm, it gives you a target score against Mark392 that was last hit by Cyrus in September... and Drakona and Jediluke at the LAN before that. Welp. GL! :)

Haha yea... although browsing through some other promo challenges 11 is actually a low-ish target. Got lucky :)

Not directly related but something i thought interesting...
For rethink's demotion challenge, target vs Jedi was 10, vs Mark was 15.

For Phyrex's promo its he has to score 11 on each. Wah?!

First, Promo & Demo will always have different targets. It's easier to win the demotion challenge.

Second, Mark hadn't played in a while, and I think he signed up for Rethink before the algorithm had given him a new rating, or his rating had dropped low enough to warrant the low requirement. When he made it to Phyrex, his score had stabilized.

So while we're talking algorithm anyways... What made it think I deserved a gold promo challenge in the first place? Got the offer right after scoring 5 on Mark but I doubt that even makes the line for bottom gold so it must have been before that... Is it because of Rethink's losses vs B2af and Naleksi, both of whom I got wins on right after?
It kinda came out of nowhere for me and realistically I think I'm around mid level silver. Sure I can compete with some top silver pilots on a good day but my lack of experience and tendency to tilt mean I run into stupid losses or close scores regularly and some gold pilots simply brickwall me once they figure out how I play. On the other hand the challenge itself is going alright so far... Maybe the algorithm just knows me better than I do
Not that I'm complaining mind you, promo games are always exiting and a fun way to get to play some pilots I usually don't see much

I don't pretend to know the math behind the skill ratings....and I admittedly was surprised to see you get the challenge also. Then I played you shortly after and thought, ahhh I see why.

You have flashes of brilliance but you are right.....u lack consistency. Keep pushing yourself and you'll get where you want to go!

Keep in mind you don't have to accept a challenge if you don't feel like you're ready.

The ladder offers them if it thinks you are playing "like gold", which is usually a pretty complex process having to do with your opponents and scores, their opponents and scores, overall ladder activity, and so on. Sometimes it sees things before the rest of us; sometimes those things turn out to be a flash in the pan and sometimes they turn out to be something with real substance.
