The Observatory 2017 Awards
[edit]NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED![/edit]
Nominate your favorite players and games from The Observatory 2017! I'll then setup a poll on Monday, and next week you'll be able to vote for the winners.
Anyone may nominate for any category! Just don't nominate yourself. You may also nominate multiple times for a single category. So if you can't decide between a few, nominate them all!

The voting has begun!
Vote for your favorite players and games for each respective category! I've provided links to all of the games so that you may watch them yourself as well. Voting closes at the end of the year!

Reminder that today is the last day of 2017, the last day of the Late 2017 DCL season, and the last day that YOU can vote for The Observatory 2017 Awards! A few categories are slam dunks, but a few are also one vote from swinging a different direction.

That jedi homer dodge is weird. what did he even do, movement wise, to get the homer to stop homing? do homers get tired, maybe? jeds, does it ever even look like you're out of the homer's 45 degree angle field of view?

He makes a stop before that final curve, and then jerks to his left, getting the homer to hit the wall. I don't doubt he took damage from it, but it wasn't a direct hit for sure!

That's actually a really good point, Ron! I had to watch it slowed down to really get it, but I get it now. It's not that it wasn't homing, it's that it hit the wall. I'm actually thinking about voting for it. (Voting for the double prox suicide just seems farcical and mean spirited, haha.)
If you started curating your plays of the match during the next season, you might end up with a more exhaustive batch of nominations. You could even open nominations during the match while it's fresh and then have a poll open during the intervening week. Then award the play of the day while broadcasting the next week. It would make for a nice little broadcast featurette to fill dead time while someone is having hosting issues or whatever.

Fun fact, that was the least-nominated category. I actually did have to go back, watch some footage, and curate the list.
I will definitely consider that, though! That's a fun idea.

So some time between me posting voting form and now, Jedi removed his demo with bahamut. Unfortunately, I deleted it too not thinking I'd need it again, but here we are. If either Jediluke or bahamut (or anyone, really) has a copy of this game's demo, please forward it to me!
