Let's Play CTF! Round #5!
The next Descent 3 CTF game will be this Friday!
Date: Friday, Sep 11th
Time: 10:00 pm EST
Place: Atmos v 1.1 & Halfpipe
We will start out in Atmos v1.1, moving onto Halfpipe afterwards.
These games can be found using the descent trackers, but I will also provide the IP addresses later on.
Please let me know if you plan to make it; I like having an idea of how many pilots are coming so I can lure more pilots in with the numbers.
This invite is also being posted on the DBB and the Descendant Studios forum.
Thanks goes to Foil for once again hosting the servers for us!

The level Atmos v1.1 should be automatically downloadable when the servers are up, but here's a link just in case:

Last night's game was great fun! Thanks to all who flew!
We started out as a small group in Atomos, but we grew to 8 pilots and we had an enjoyable game. I thought it was a good level. My only complaint about it is this: Need moar weapons! It needs more MD refills, and more weapon spawn areas outside. But aside from that I had a great time! After playing a few rounds in there, we moved on to the Fury levels.
Originally we were going to play in Halfpipe, but the server looped all the fury levels and we joined when it was running Infernal, which was...interesting? So small and full of craziness! Trying time and time again to get past a tank camping in the tiny room above the flag/fire pit?...Painful! Switching the flip and watching your enemies burn while listening to them jokingly curse you on Mumble... Priceless. We had a fun time
Next Fury level was Insomniac. That was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I know one really shouldn't fly down the long "gun barrel" of a tunnel to get to or from the flag room, but I just couldn't help it; and I paid for it frequently.
Final game was played in Fury level Taurus. It took me a little while to figure out how to tell which base was which without actually sticking my nose in there to see (it really hurt to accidentally fly into the wrong base after playing keep-away with the flag). Finally I realized the lighting was different in the level depending on which base you were near. That still didn't keep me from having a few sudden bouts of colorblindness though.
Entropy: Your ::oops - erase/scribble:: You're a real trooper, thanks for showing up. I know you don't care for D3.
Wats: Lady Silver's 1337 skillz > Wats skills in D3. Let's keep it that way, mmk?
Zero: ..............did you know that most people fly a Pheonix in CTF?
Dues: Playing CTF with you was entertaining, as always

I see that apostrophe and e. Hehe. The first game was fun, then Zero joined and I realized "Oh wow, it's not just blindly flying around and watching all your shots never hit anyone. People actually know how to work this magic black box and get an outcome that vaguely resembles the inputs they put in" so I was sad as he just killed me all the time lol. That and I was literally falling asleep in my chair for some reason so I called it a night.

I used to be able to fairly consistently do a 180 and one-shot people with MD on a KB, but those days are behind me.
Oh and I missed the game in the level with the firepits? ****! That sounds hilarious!
My favorite level of the night I think was Atomos. Taurus was really interesting too. Easy to get a flag, not so easy to score with it. This level produces an intense stale-mate game. I loved the part where both flag runners ran into each other in the lower central room.

Yeah, it was an entertaining night. Not so much in the competitive spirit, but more in the goofy half-hearted-I think i'd like to win-mayhem.
I was most impressed with Lothar playing D3. He's more of a D1 player but was a sport in joining. Best quote of the night: "isn't that what one does?", after he out flew me with the flag and I chided him for trichording in open space and using his afterburner so efficiently, out running my phoenix with a BP to score. I love playing D3 but I concede it's not as skill driven as D1. Afterburner is my crutch. Two crutches with cooler.
Funnest death of the night was Silver on the other side of the glass as I burned and impotently fired rounds of MD at her as she giggled at me. I meant no harm in calling you a cockroach. It was more of a compliment in the fact that hitting a roach with a shoe is futile when they just keep moving so fast it's impossible to hit them. Like playing whack-a-mole and losing, haha!
As always, playing with Flossy is a treat. The guy is such a sport and a gentleman.
These games are fun.
