Awww, wow. And hey, did you seriously just blast out 2500 words in an evening? I didn't realize I'd been that much of an influence on you.

From the time we first played our very first 1on1 i knew we were gonna be cool friends, We played an IDL match in fusion rats paradise (which i was quite confident in back in those days) We get to 20-19 his favor and i think it's over but he keeps playing and i'm wondering why until he lets me know about the 2 kill rule. So i give out more steam to try and push myself ahead, IIRC he got me that game 23-21 and that was when i saw how cool of a guy cameron is, He's an excellent sport, a fun guy to play and always a good challenge to fight against. I can only hope that we get to keep having more fun games in the future!

The first time i remember playing Jeds was in NYSA, back in those days i had a habit of picking someone and asking them to play their home level, I believe this was before he had decided to make mega-nysa his home, he defeated me soundly 20-2? i think? and i was stunned that i had been beaten so badly, but i didn't give up, i started asking him for more matches and fun games as much as i could and realized i was lacking in my hit-run skills. I probably wouldn't be the pilot i am today without the games me and david have had. He can be a bit competitive at times but i know he has a good heart and a big love for this game and it's community and we love you back man!

Me and tommy have for years been good pals when it comes to descent, I remember first seeing him in D3 games around the time i first got into kali, he was playing as RETHINK-GX, i remember paying closer attention to him because he had excellent vauss in D3, then i came to find out he was known as Diablo on the IDL. Heh, I remember when i saw him doing incredibly well against the UT and thinking "he's not all that" so i challenged him to a gauntlet and beat him a couple times, but he's always been a great player who compliments my style alot and we work good together in alot of scenarios. He's a great friend and an amazing descent pilot.

I haven't seen someone increase their skill so quickly and determined as drak, She's put so much effort into trying to make our gaming experience as good as possible for us being on modern machines and that work can never be appreciated enough, the same tenacity she's shown in working on the gameplay itself is also the ferocity of the motivation she's shown to make herself a better pilot during a time when there are many competitive pilots around, When me and her play we have the most fun dogfights and we've had so many close calls its funny, there are times when it feels like we're on the same page and she knows what i'm going to do and vice versa and that just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Drak you're awesome and I should play you more often!

Birdseye
What can i say about Birds? back to 99, I remember my first online days of D3, I had missed out on the Kali "Golden days" of d1/d2 because back then i had no idea people could even play online, let alone with descent! back in those days, i used KB as my main first controller, since that was how i played on single player. It was during this period that i first saw Birdseye terrorizing games of Burning indika 3, and other levels. I made a mental note of him back then because that name stuck out for some reason.
Skip ahead a few years to 2002, i finally made the switch to mouse and was using a WASD config, the same that my two little brothers use basically now. I started working on my piloting skills, trying to learn as much as i could but never ventured out of my safe bubble of playing CTF games with my small group.
One day, i run into Beowulf, who called himself "Spawn" at the time, He was with the D3k group of guys who always teamed up together to try and show their skills off to the newer guys, and he challenged me (not sure why? i was a random newbie back at the time pretty much) to a 1on1 in Burning indika, He destroyed me 20-0 if i remember right, And that was when i went to planetdescent to look up ways to get better at 1on1s.
They had a demo section which included some demos from guys such as, Darktalyn, Roncli, Ryujin and Birds
Since i saw that birds was well respected in that area, i started keeping an eye out for him whenever i'd see him and ask him how he was doing, for any tips i could use and what i should do now that i had switched to mouse, He recommended i switch to his config and told me that it was very important, the config a pilot has and how comfortable it is.
So i downloaded a .plt file from planetdescent that had his config on it but wasn't very certain how good i would get with it so i set it aside for a while. fast forward to 2004, I'd become quite proficient in d3, being able to keep up with the better pilots still around in those days like, monkey, krom, shadowfox, zero, suncho and others. but not quite steady enough to win on a regular basis, actually, many of the guys (aside from Zero) ridiculed me and constantly called me lots of names because i was stubborn enough to keep playing even when they would team up on me like 3v1 or 4v1, I'd tell them i was gonna be as good as birds one day and they all mocked me for it heh, looking back i supposed it might've seemed funny hearing that from some random guy.
Finally, late 2004 i bump into birds in chat, I tell him whats going on and how i'm trying to get better at descent and asked him if he could either train me or teach me as many things as he could, so we start going over many things like tactics, how to dogfight properly, and basically as many things as i could think of to ask he had an answer for, we had many conversations about descent and the theoretical concepts behind it and i learned alot. then one day i asked him if he could play me a few games 1on1 to show me how to setup fusion shots (He's the reason i've reached the level i have with the fusion cannon, had it not been for him i probably never would've taken such interest in the game) and he annihilated me 10-0 each game, 5 games in a row.
It was after that, that i decided to finally switch to his config and start learning it, I spent months playing CTF and anarchy getting used to it, still asking Birds when he was around for pointers and what i need to look out for. It didn't take long before i was much better using his config than i had ever been on my first mouse profile. but some of the things we discussed i hadn't fully understood until about 2008, when i started to reach my prime over the next 3 years. Had it not been for Brian, i might've never reached the level i had, which is the funnest part of descent for me, the mind game is what makes the game most enjoyable and worth playing over every other game out there in my opinion.
So thanks Bro, You helped me in many more ways than i can put on this post or page.

Funny how I could get along so well with one 'brother' and have a totally opposite experience with the 'other brother'
The funny thing about behe to me is he can play at a high level while very calmly chit chatting with you the entire time. He doesn't stop to breathe I swear!
Super great attitude and damn fine fusion.
We've played eachother many times over the years and it's always been enjoyable.
I'm glad you are around these days for more games and I hope you continue to play and improve.
It's probably time for you to beat me as your kid brother has done bring it!

If y'all love to hate me.....then who do I love to hate??......
Cyrus:
If there was ever a second student that I've had in the modern era....it's Cyrus. I should be happy that he learned a good portion of what I had to teach....until he got stubborn and relied on his crutch (vulcan) and stopped learning.
No one pisses me off more than Cyrus in a game.
Why you might ask?
Um, I don't really know why. I have no good answer for this one. He's super nice....has an infectious laugh and he's very good at Descent. He got really good in a very short amount of time. Probably set some sort of record for that actually.
Oh, I know why I hate him so much in Descent. I was training him to be 'good' but not good enough to beat me. Then he had to go and cross that line. So he deserves my hatred.
Seriously though....I hate him cuz of his sideways turned hat in his facebook profile picture!!! Reason enough right!?
Cyrus you developed what is arguably the BEST vulcan in the game....and you did it way faster than anyone has a right to.
I have no idea why you seemed to become the one everyone loves to hate when it was clearly a title I held alone.
Maybe that is why!!!....you encroached on my territory!
Congrats to you Cyrus, you became a top 5 badass pilot in a rediculously short amount of time! Mad respect for your game...but it totally makes me mad!
luv u bro

kudos to Bahamut for beating me 3 times in a row (i think) 2 separate games to 10 and one game to 20.
Sorry for the excuses this morning baha. Though legit, mark woulda kept them to himself. Alas...I am no mark. Self defense mechanism I guess.
But...regardless of what was happening behind the wheel of MY pyro. I can clearly tell you are back to old form and are looking amazing! Well played.
maybe going forward we can do a 'your choice then my choice sorta rotation' anything goes on settings.

Vainiac:
A blast from the past that is a little late to the revival party ....but better late than never.
I had very competitive games with this guy back in the day and he was one of the better known pilots. Old school guys take longer to adopt the new school ways....it's quite different. We play smaller levels with more missiles and Vainiac is an old school dog fighter.
He's got vulcan that is competitive with the best and is a very strong dog fighter. I'm proud of Vainiac showing a recent interest in understanding the ways of x4 and I can tell that he's beginning to 'get it'. He doesn't have to 'love' it but I think he sees there is value that can be learned that will help him in non x4 games.
Vainiac is a good pilot with a good attitude and I'm really happy/proud that he survived the adjustment phase that few pilots seem able to survive. It's grueling to come from the old school ways and get thrown into what we do today....he had his butt handed to him over and over but he took it on the chin like a champ with a great attitude and is now starting to hand out butt whoopins of his own.
Keep it going Vainiac...you'll be one to watch I think!
Glad to have you back

Lotharbot:
A lot of what I said about Drakona applies to Lotharbot so I'll just talk about some of the differences.
Lothar is someone I played back in the kali days....he was better than Drakona at the game and presented a fun challenge. He is a vital piece to the DCL admin crew and brings qualities to the table that I just clearly don't possess. He is very level headed and it takes a fair bit to rattle his cage. He handles people with respect and has a gentle way of dealing with stick situations.
Lotharbot has developed a higher set of skills in the modern era and the only thing that has held him back from greateness is his lack of desire/drive to be great. imo I think Lotharbot has found contentment in his game and that's really valuable. It's something I've never been able to ascertain myself.
Lotharbot is particularly impressive in Octave Pro and levels similar to this.....where he easily handed me my butt in a game.
My only 'complaint' (using this word loosely) with Lotharbot......is that we never played as many matches as I had originally invisioned us playing. In the early days of the DCL I thought he would be somebody that I would have a lot of matches with. I think it may have been wise to not play me too often though....that way he didn't have to deal with Jedihulk. He is certainly a smart guy
Thank you for having me at your house....very hospitable guy. I look forward to seeing you at the LAN!
