Re: Wired / wireless connections
I'm curious why this game being p2p would make it worse... By my reasoning all a server would do is make it *actually* unfair towards the player being lossy instead of just annoying and frustrating for both. Or depending on how the game handles lag compensation you will see funny things like dead people killing you, people killing you after they duck behind cover, people killing you after you've taken cover, you getting hit by shots that miss you on your screen, getting owned by someone who has 5ms ping to the server that you have a 120 ping to... you know, exactly like the things that happen in all of the server-based games out right now. Only reason those seem smooth most of the time is because there are a lot of people playing so you can play on a server near you that other peope, also near you, play on too...
Not saying you're wrong, would just like to understand what your reasoning is because this stuff is interesting to me:)

If you have indeed played on connections worse as you claim, 100ms should be a dream from the past, get the F*** over <5% loss every now and then or maybe 7 kills and 3 seconds into the match. We're playing over the internet; I am typing this on Jan. 1st, 2017.
EDIT: I bleeped out the "F" word for emphasis!

bahamut, I think perhaps based on recent match comments, game play and forum posts that perhaps u rang in the new year with some sweet happy sauce that failed to make you 'happy'.
This thread and Tom's comments are not in any way shape or form about how a pilot should be able to handle and deal with fluctuating lag/loss.
It IS about the fact that pilots should be wired if they can be. period.
We all have an obligation to eliminate as many outside bs factors, that would affect a competitive 1 v 1, as we can.

I think I am reading this as "please don't jerk people around with wi-fi just because you're feeling apathetic". Not "if you use wi-fi you are a bad person and should feel bad". Ergo, it's not something that's necessary to get defensive about if you happen to get stuck on wireless. You're still a cool player, and thanks for being here anyway, but if your living situation changes keep the wire thing in mind.
