I asked my friends and remembered there was some talk here about mice. Ended up finding Roncli's recommendation for a Roccat brand mouse and got lucky with a 50% off sale on newegg.ca. Was still a bit pricey but my last ~120$ mouse is still kicking 8 years later though with a few issues. Ended up with the Roccat Nyth. The plethora of thumb buttons makes me wonder if I will make a drastic change to my setup (could bind pitch/yaw to thumb buttons) or something. Main issue with my old mouse is that it would sometimes just stop picking up any sideways movement at all. Otherwise seems good, the Roccat driver software is pretty nifty.

That looks cool, like a pricey replacement for my g502s when they're out of production

I actually did NOT get that mouse because the thumb placement was off for my hand. Still looks like a good mouse, I could probably get used to it if I had to.

I question why mouse vendors think we need DPI levels that high... I suspect it's well past the ability of the human body to control movement down to 1/12600 of an inch. It's certainly far smaller than your eye can see even under ideal conditions (a little smaller than an E. coli bacterium, apparently).

At that point, it says to me that increasing the movement rate of the mouse would be what a user would actually want to do...
