FPS drops

Hi all. I've played a few games recently, and noticed that my new(ish) computer seems to have a problem my old one never did. It'll be chugging away at 200 fps, then the screen will jerk. It's a big enough jerk that I can be a little disoriented after it happens.
If I look quick enough, the fps counter may say something like '186' or there abouts, but there was a definite loss of something more than that. My monitor is only 60 Hz. I'm running a decent setup with an i5 6500 and RX 480. That is leaps and bounds over my old i3 2120 and HD 6870. I never had any problems with frame drops on the old one though. I run a pretty lean system with hardly anything running in the background. Nothing more than I ran on the old one anyway. Any ideas? I'd love it if it was just a setting or two that I could change and it would go away.
