I'd like to gauge what the general opinion is concerning Vulcan Cannon ammo in D1 ladder matches. There isn't an agenda here so if you're interested, please vote and or comment as you see fit.

To be honest i prefer Stock Vulcan, However there are some times that i prefer Low Vulcan
And i wish without complication you can get stock Vulcan but without Extra Ammo scattered throughout the map... Its possible with banning the item but i just wish that was an option

level dependent. Just like "how many missiles should I play with" or "should we play fusion-only".

Good info to know however, I actually have no preference. I love it when I have it, I hate it when you do. I do feel it can be a crutch and it can be overused (Guilty). There are so many times when it is the preferred weapon of choice for excellent reasons. It is good for death by 1000 cuts when you are up against a better player or someone who stays at a distance and you just want to get some kills. I've found it's good for finding the lag spot for aiming and punishing fusion heavy players. I've also learned you need to use short accurate bursts and not just spray and pray or you'll soon run out of ammo.
It's definitely the least skill dependent and therefore offers the least kill reward in my opinion but I know each weapon has a counter weapon and strategies to cope with each and it's good to learn to fight a vulcan heavy player, like dodge and feint, try to make them run out of ammo, get close and fusion or use spread against it at a distance. So that being said there is a strategic use for it and certainly, as a contrast to the other power regenerating weapons, it is limited.
I was wondering this myself so I've been leaving extra ammo out on maps I've made thinking extra ammo is just overkill (which is probably your agenda here) and it seems by the poll that probably is a preferred community choice. Learning to conserve and use sparingly should be the way to go because it WILL run out and you will eventually have to switch weapons so it's not like Fusion where you can recharge and go back to one-shotting your opponent.
Ultimately I would leave it up to the mapmaker and let the pilots decide like Lothar said.

Now, if we're talking D2, low ammo is just about the only way to play. Unless you're explicitly looking for a Gauss-only game anyway.
