A reasonable rule of thumb is that there aren't as many things that will kill you in New Zealand. Australia has crocodiles, snakes, spiders, dingoes, even kangaroos and emus if you get on their bad side. And sharks, stingrays and some fairly nasty jellyfish.

New Zealand has... like... one spider and I'm not sure where you can even find it. Maybe some sharks in some places but I'm not sure about that. Seals, if you try really hard (might be too small to do any damage)? Wetas, if looks could kill? Moas might have had a chance but they're all dead anyway.
