Apparently not. I did modify the missile spawning recently, but all I did is make missiles try a little harder to avoid reactor cubes. It should have no impact on anything but observatory levels.

I did ask Jedi if the missiles were in the catcher at the end, and he says they weren't. So no . . . I didn't fix it, and no . . . the missile catcher doesn't seem to have been the cause. The old one worked a lot faster than that, anyway -- that was a very, very long match.

There is some black magic going on with the Athena catcher. I've been looking at the D1 original missile spawning algorithm for a while scratching my head . . . because missiles should not have been able to spawn in there at all. The fact that they did, and in great numbers and with great efficiency, is very puzzling. I don't know what broke because as far as I can tell, it never should have worked in the first place.

Argh. I can't reproduce it. It's like any game I'm in, the missiles know they have to behave.

People at work used to be like, "Hey Catherine, would you come over and glare at the database for a moment? . . . okay thanks, it's working now." Seems I can intimidate homing missiles, too. ;)

An update -- I played a game with Jedi in Athena, and we did lose some homers. Over the course of 20 kills, out of 16 homers, we lost 4 into the void and 6 . . . into the missile catcher. So it does still work, though nothing like as efficiently as it used to. Now, if you have more than 6 homers and pick up a pack of four, the extras won't respawn, so losing 4 into the void on a level with 16 is very believable, and indeed can happen in the first moments of the match.

I don't know if that's the cause of their disappearance in Jedi/DJ's game, and certainly wouldn't explain Nysa or Aglaia. If you see it happen again, get a count at the end of the game. It would help from a statistical perspective to know how many are disappearing and how fast.

I still can't reproduce the effect in general.

I didn't know if it warranted a new thread, but I just wanted to say nice job to Drak on another epic game involving JediLuke, taking it to OT! You almost broke through there :)

Not sure how you guys have the endurance to play so many matches, it is pretty insane!

Thanks, clone. It was a good game. We decided to turn our mics off as the games got serious . . . but I think that may have actually resulted in more yelling overall. It did on my end, at least. ;)

He sure showed me who was boss in the rematch, though. Close games like this with Jedi are very rare.
