Sol Contingency - updated Descent game, coming in 2014!!
I just found out that the Sol Contingency is going to be releasing a multiplayer release in 2014! Read their FAQ here:
http://preparefordescent.com/faq/
It's about to go into live (closed) beta testing.
Check out this YouTube video of multiplayer play:

I am super excited! I also imagine they could use your services, Drakona, although you're probably too busy here. But it would let you keep an eye on the flight mechanics / physics to make sure it stays true to the D1/D2 flight style =)
Now I just have to make sure my PC can handle it!

I've edited the OP here because, forget Talon, the Sol Contingency is straight up Descent and releasing a multiplayer, playable version in 2014! Woot!

Well, I hope it's straight up Descent. I am cautiously pessimistic.
They actually already have a legit pilot on their dev team, and they don't have a great track record when it comes to listening to him about what counts as changing the game. So I'm not sure they're after the kind of fanatical fidelity my analysis is about. Getting the physics right in a rewrite is a TALL order, even if you're going all out to do it. Maybe they'll get close enough? I'll wait to see.
As I said, I'm cautiously pessimistic.
But it sure is pretty.
