Featured Matches

I was looking through the matches people have chosen to feature, and something surprised me: most of them are losses. 10 pilots have chosen to feature a match, and only 3 of them have chosen wins. Everyone else has chosen to highlight a loss of theirs.

Not that it's all humility -- sometimes featuring a loss is gloating too, if it's a good score againt a MUCH better pilot. And not that I'm criticizing the winners either. There's nothing wrong with a little gloating sometimes. It is your profile and your featured match, and it's right and proper to say, "This is one game where I was particularly aweome." But I'm still struck by how few people are actually doing that. What I mostly got out of it was that people are choosing to say, "Win or lose, this was a great game" or "I look up to and honor that guy, and look how close this was".

Which I just find cool.

For me, the thought process was: "Wow, that game went way past 20 kills and it was intense! I played awesome and still came up short, had lots of fun doing it, and I will never forget it!" --DKH
