I just wanted to say

That I have had really fun games lately. I look forward to more. Also thanks to Lady Silver and Wats for being willing to mess around with the derpy level I made haha. It is quite stupid, but not stupid enough!

Oh yeah there is a bug where smart missiles disappear from the map over time. I hosted a map that has 20 smart missiles on x5 (so 120?) and as we were nearing 50 kills there were less than 12 remaining. The loss of missiles seemed to be fairly linear.

You're Welcome

My head swims at the thought of 120 smarts :o

I can't wait to play Mindtrix X5 :D

I've noticed that, too. My Athena x2 games are just Athena x1.5 or so by the end. Very annoying. 1.4.X3, yes? I'll see what I can do.

Well, Athena has a hidey hole where missiles spawn that you can't get to, so that makes sense.

Does Entropy's level have something similar?

Negative. The Athena missile catcher was disabled in Retro 1.4.X1. It's not that.

No, my level is literally a 5*5*5 cube basically. No special tunnels or hallways. They just disappeared. Wats and I noticed it when it went from a bajillion missiles to only "oh my god so many missiles", then there were less than 20, and then less than 12 by the time we got to 50 kills.

Yeah, I actually started getting a suspicion of this when I played Lady Silver in Pillbox x4, but it was obvious in Entropy's level by the 50 kill point. It seems like a fairly infrequent loss -- takes a while to really become apparent.

There is something in the code that only allows for so many objects in a level. I don't know if this was changed in retro or not. All missiles, shots, bots, smart blobs all count toward that limit. If I remember right the limit was 255 or there abouts. If there are 120 missiles, 2 people firing quads and smarts, it won't take long to exceed that limit, and then things won't appear. Missiles won't respawn. Sometimes shots won't work. That doesn't explain why you only had 12 missiles left though.

Yeah, I believe the limit was put in place to allow the older (1990s) systems run the game when a ton of stuff is going off without killing game-play performance. If the limit is still in place (I'm 99% sure it still is) it should be taken off if its possible. Even a slow PC in today's time shouldn't have a problem running it with a unlimited or at least a 100% higher limit.

There is a limit, but you don't hit it until you're in an 8-player game with a lot of spew buildup. I've never seen it hit in the modern (constant powerup) game.

You know when you hit it because you go to fire a weapon and you hear the sound of it firing, but the shot never appears. I'm pretty sure this isn't that.
