for the record
For the record. I have a piss poor attitude in games...not all the time...but plenty enough times for me to be known for it.
Also, I'm also quite terrible with giving compliments...that's true in ALL aspects of my life...both 'irl' and in this game I'm addicted to.
I don't know how to have fun. I do know how to have unrealistic expectations of myself. At this point in my Descent career I'm finding it very difficult to find reasons to play. To find something to drive me....something to shoot for....something to prove. It's not because I've achieved being the best pilot ever....or even the best pilot now. I don't own either of those titles....and I can't seem to muster the desire to fight to obtain them.
When you combine those feelings I'm having and play a game that possesses my favorite combustible elements (Lag, attitude & losing) it ends in an overwhelming desire to immediately quit and walk away. That's what I did the last time....it's what I want to do now.
I'm not going to...at least not yet. I knew good and well that I was enjoying my little break...and I really did not feel the pull to come back to the DCL at this point. I did it because I wanted to see my name in "Diamond". I've seen it now....not with a glint mind you....but I've seen it. It's still not enough.
So 2 things. A compliment and a statement of intent.
1: Rethink. You are certainly one of the best players I've ever had the pleasure of playing. I was pleasantly surprised by you in person and was blown away by your skill on LAN and your fun loving teddy bear personality hidden underneath some thug'esque exterior. I don't often (or ever) tell you GG or Great Kill or any other Mark392isms. I've often wished I were more like Mark. But alas....I'm just a grumpy old Jedi.
2: At this point my feelings are still strong....about stepping away from the DCL. I don't want to quit out of anger from losing to Tommy in a truly laggy shit fest of a game so I won't be retiring tonight.
So...
for as long as I can stand (and it might not be long).... I'm going to play some DCL matches (with people who have a good connect...and a better attitude than mine) ((That's almost everyone on the ladder)).
So...
Come get you some ....while there is still some to get.

I'm always up for a game... and I'm sure I'll ask you "What are you doing?" in there somewhere and then you can destroy me and keep me from getting another kill the rest of the match.... just like old times hahahaha

I thought he was Jedi Luke and not Sith Luke.

Jedi, you are truly legendary in Descent... I can totally understand if you're simply just "tired" of the game. Have you ever considered that as a possibility? It's just a natural thing that happens...
I'm curious to know if you have an estimate of how many hours you've spent playing Descent over the years?
One time I estimated myself playing at least 1000 hours, combined with all the times back in the day. But it's been so long my memory questions whether that is accurate. But I suspect your play count is much higher than 1000 hours

Well, Jedi has 2011 DCL matches. If you figure those are about half an hour a piece, that's 1000 hours played right there.
