The Overload geekout thread!
I'd love to chat Overload with some of you oldschool pilots =). I'd like this thread to remain in the vein of "geeking out" about what we're excited about, rather than closely comparing and Definitely not trashing other games! So with that caveat out of the way =) ...
Holy crap this game is awesome!!! It's like the Descent 4 I always wanted. New weapons (although we've only seen a taste), new graphics (same, just a taste!), a new release so likely a ton of players to compete with and game modes to try. I am beyond stoked!
If you haven't tried it, there's an early demo available free I believe, or you can pay $90 to get access to a limited release demo just put out last week. It's incredible (adds a Lot to the initial demo experience, imo) and worth every penny! Check any of this out at:

Can't wait to play this new game with some of you when it's finally released =). Multiplayer will be around 6 months after single player (not sure if that includes cooperative modes or not). It's going to be epic!

This will probably be the time when I come back to descent unless something changes with what's out there now. Overload single player is great and I hate single player games (I don't play a single player game more than 30 minutes before getting board and quitting. It will be interesting to see the route they take with the net code. That will make or break it.

See first post Jeds - geeking out is awesome, but no trashing other games, please ^_^
Have you tried the latest demo? It's obviously got me (even more) excited for this =)

I just want them to fix the mouse. Everything else is great (well, okay, there are a few things that are simply "this is an early demo and there isn't much content yet"). But the mouse actively makes aiming a pain in the ass.

Yeah, they've got some issues like that, I've had some trouble setting up my joystick too (although I think it's just the stick itself now, as I seem to be the only one!).
They've been really responsive to feedback on bugs, even if they can't fix them immediately. Overall I'm thrilled with how the ship moves - they've really got the Descent feel nailed!

Trichording is nerfed, and this drives me crazy. Weapons and robots are very mutually similar. Energy as a poweup causes unnecessary pain and suffering for humanity in general. Weapons as a group are clustered in the D3 small and fast quadrant.
The smart robots are fun in challenge mode, and on insane, it's tough enough to make me put on loud music and play hard. It is beatable though, and shouldn't be.
There is much pretty and the explosions are satisfying. The cube and doodad based architecture is a step forward rather than back, and is generally enlightened. As a starting point, it leaves me relatively optimistic.

Regarding trichording, it seemed pretty awesome to me, but I'm sure you are one of the best to judge how responsive it is. Felt great to this rusty pilot, though!
I had assumed an energy charging station would be coming in the future, as that was one of my biggest pain points when living long enough, too ; )
