What are the best practices to counter a strong fusion player both generally speaking and specifically in Logic?

I usually grab a fast gun and play keepaway.

I have some logic games against strong fusioners on demo, not sure if I'm any help for actually doing good things to counter them, but I'll post up some links to demos when I get home tonight

Yeah, the funny thing about fusion is....it seems fusion shooters have a harder time hitting a pyro that is NOT moving. The pyro need only move after the fusion shot is in the air just a bit to avoid being hit.

That's all good n well when you are dog fighting but not entirely practical when you have run into a fusion shooter in the halls.

In a dog fight, I prefer to paint my enemy with vulcan while he's trying to load and launch the next shot.

In the halls, might be better to have quad level 4s or plasma as your deterrent.

Fusion shots are about information and deception.

The more your opponent moves, the more information you have.

Elementary fusion dodging is to avoid wherever your opponent is looking. bahamut and Zero show the "lock on" body-language of their fusion very strongly when you know what to look for. Not to say it will help with dodging, but it will at least show you when you are wrong.

Wild fusion pilots like me use unorthodox orientation and three-rights-make-a-left movement to hit people when they think they are safe. This is deception. I have no advice for this other than smart missiles smart missiles smart missiles.
