I understand that I am new, and I am definitely not in charge but... It has recently been brought to my attention that We have not been Putting (Random) After each Roll, and talking with multiple people about it, it affects our Core... If you don't mark it as (Random) then it will be put as a regular match which Adds count to the amount of games played on that map seperate, from the "Random Game"amount I dont know about you... but I would like to see different Core... Of course since the new season has begun we will have to wait... but this is something i personally would like to see fixed!
Feel free to put your own opinions!

I would be fine with making this standard policy... or maybe adding a checkbox in the game report page to indicate a random-roll map, or something along those lines. It would help to keep core from being so self-perpetuating.

I agree, Code.
I think tallying the use of the random button would provide important information when it comes to discussing core levels. It may be valuable to measure how much inertia is added to the core level set when two indecisive pilots slap the random button.
I'm also a fan of a "Core - Extended Only" option on the roll. I think that might get a lot of mileage, and help pilots focus on exploring levels just off the beaten path without too much effort. May be room in there for an award.

"(Random)" is not part of the level name and should not be included in the level name. You can put it in the comments, though.
People typically include it because they don't know it affects some of the stats, or are angry that they got a random level they didn't like. In the long run it really doesn't make THAT big a difference.
I do agree that a facility needs to be created to incorporate a way to determine if something was "random", but I don't feel it should affect core stats.

I understand the points you are making and don't necessarily disagree with them but I do want to add that I also use the random button just to have it pick a core level for me and my opponent so we don't have to 'negotiate' for one. We were going to pick a core level anyways but this way it did it for us...no fuss....no muss.
Those should count.
Still, would be nice to track it more formally.

Maybe instead of immediately discounting random rolls in core selection, it could just be used as an additional factor. For instance, Logic isn't going anywhere even though it has a lot of random rolls, because the percentage of times it's directly selected instead of rolled is pretty high. But say (hypothetically) Logic2 ends up with the 18th-most plays, but with eighty percent of those being randomly picked. Then it's time to ask whether it has a lot of plays because people actively like playing it, or if it's only being played because it was picked to be core a season ago. If Nocturnal is two matches away from making extended core without the benefit of getting random rolls, it might be more "worthy" of making the list.
As for the reason why people choose to roll random core. Speaking solely for myself, I don't do it because all of my favorite maps are in core, or because I'd be equally happy with any map in core. It's because it picks a map that is guaranteed to be "reasonable" - while there's a fifty percent chance it's a map I don't really like, there's a zero percent chance I get Shaker Royos or Big Red (both on dmdb if you're morbidly curious). So yes, I definitely will random-roll into maps I wouldn't tend to play otherwise.
And since this thread sent me to the stats page and it seems like a reasonable-enough place to bring this up -- did Fuzed (Fusion Only) really get more plays than Fuzed, and enough to get it into the top ten? Or was there some monkey business in the counting, and that's actually the combined count of Fuzed + Fuzed (Fusion Only)?
