In addition to the other things people have mentioned people tend to idle in channels for extended periods of time making it difficult to tell who is actually around and paying attention to play. In mumble if you see someone on its usually because they want to play.

We tried discord for a while. Pretty much the entire community switched over for a couple weeks. It didn't stick. Not enough people liked it. I didn't really like it, mostly because of all the voice/text channel stuff. If there's a killer feature, like the observatory bot, people go to discord. If they liked it, they'd stick around. That's that. You can woo Descenters, you can't herd them.

We should absolutely try to keep the Rangers and DCL communities together. We are too small of a community to stay strong if we split up.
