I noticed this with Blarget a long time ago, and paying attention to spawn locations I think there's a bug or correlation with the Spawn Preview setting and spawning closer to your opponents much more often.

I'm not sure how you'd track this. There may be a bias to really coming up with an answer, because with spawn preview on, you're more likely to know where they are when you choose to spawn. Under the original method, they might fly right by where you arts about to spawn, but you wouldn't know.

I looked at the code, and the spawns are different, but within reason. Without previews the code tries not to spawn you inside another ship... but with spawn previews that check is bypassed because it picks your spawn point before you spawn. Otherwise, spawning is entirely random.

Remember our game in Logic where you spawned in my ship, smacked me with quads, and I suicided on your ship with a smart? That wouldn't've happened without previews!

Might just be bias then, because it definitely seems like Spawn Preview has people spawning closer more often than No Invuln.

First time playing a DCL with spawn preview on with Ender just a minute ago. After one of us dies we would spawn right behind or just a few blocks away from the spew every time. I have never had this happen before. It was madness! Not sure if it was because of spawn preview or because of super bad luck. The only other time I have had spawn problems was playing Drakona in Athena and I spawned in the same spot 17 times in a row before spawning in a different spot. /sadface
