When a ladder has rules to abide by, and people don't adhere to those said rules, by default any matches played by disrespecting parties should be voided and not held against whoever is not going against the rules.

The very fact that something like this would even come into question is a statement to the sad posturing of this group, I thought you guys were more respectful than that, (i'm not referring to you all, you who i'm talking to know who you are) but one calls people hacker and whines when he's losing by a couple points and wants to retire, another doesn't even agree whether a match is DCL or not before starting the damn game, okay? since when did it become protocol to EVER start a 1on1 without saying Go first? wtf is this? first of all, saying Go when both are ready to start has ALWAYS been a sign of respect and courtesy amongst both consenting players that they are both about to take the match seriously and give it their all, I've been doing 1on1s for 10+ years easily and when people are respectful that makes them enjoyable to play, when they are not respectful, how can i take a mtach like that seriously?
I didn't come here to ramble but i felt the need to put some people into remembrance of what a LADDER is meant to be, Competition grade gameplay for all who take part in it.
If people don't even have 5-10 seconds before the other guy starts picking up weapons so he can check if his settings arent messed up or whatever then that match is already doomed from the start.
We need more guidelines, and i'll even help out if you guys lack the amount of people required or the sense necessary to think about the rules that need to be in place.

Heh. Well, you'll have to talk to LotharBot and Jediluke for their take, but for my part . . . I have absolutely no intention of running a ladder the way Sirian would run it. None whatsoever. For better or for worse, you haven't got him, you've got the three of us.

I feel the need to say that because a lot of people have the impression DCL is an attempt to resurrect IDL. It's not. It's an attempt to do BETTER. IDL did some great things, and we steal them where we think they were great . . . but that's where it stops. I'm not Sirian and have no aspirations to be. Whether I do a better or worse job running a ladder -- that's for the historians.

Anyway. Your tone is way out of line here. I don't want this kind of crap on the forum. Calm down, be constructive. We're reasonable people and will listen.

But I do want to say that Jeds is right about the protocol point. Games start when you spawn, and it's literally been in the rules since day 1. In fact, I've made a point of telling people since it's different from how Rangers do it. That's not an accident -- it's something we did very intentionally to help define the culture of this ladder. When you're in the mines, it's WAR. Get your config figured out, your music on, yourself psyched up, whatever you need to do . . . because when you spawn, it's game on.

Yet again, i apologize for whatever i said that may have been seen as offensive.
I'm not in any way a troublemaker and i'm sure many would consider me a valuable member of both the d1/d2 and d3 community, as i've always strived to keep activity up and get more players into the game, and i believe my opinion has just as much right to be considered as anyone else that has played since 95' but in any case i'll catch up with either of you in mumble and discuss this further if my apology needs anything further to back up my sincerity that all i care about is to have the best ladder possible.
