Since we have a d2 trophy, would it be cool if we got a d3 trophy as well? I've been noticing alot more players from mumble playing in d3 lately and i've even seen some DCL activity in that regard, If enough activity happens, you think we could get a trophy for top D3 pilot on the ladder also?

As is always the case, trophies are for recognizing what people are already playing. We should probably retire most of the trophies, and we're not at a point where D3, laser 1's, or other subgames have the activity to justify new trophies. Our mantra is "show me the games."

Backing up Lothar here, I've held both the bronze and silver D2 trophies this year. Both were games for a vacant trophy. Both times I was never challenged for the trophy once I won it.

That's because I don't care about D2

How many d3 matches would have to be played for that to happen then?

Behemoth, to the best of my knowledge, there is not a specific number of matches required. It's when it becomes apparent that playing D3 matches amongst a fairly good sized group of competitors has become more prevalent that a d3 trophy would then have 'meaning' and at that point have a good reason to exist.

What we want to avoid are meaningless trophies. Like Roncli pointed out....did it really 'mean' anything that Roncli had those trophies given how they were aquired and the lack of defenses.

When you have enough players competing at a particular sub-category and there is some stiff competition ...then we want to reward someone who is the 'best' at it with a trophy. Then that person with the trophy is then required to accept all challenges to that trophy and spur further competition within that sub-category.

I would venture to say at the moment I see more players who would like to play d3 matches than d2, of course I agree that there should be significant matches to back it up, I was mainly tossing the idea out there that if we get enough d3 games would that be cool? If so then I would appreciate it.

You people want the ladder admins to set trends. Why are you so terrified of pushing forward yourselves? Show me.

This is a small community. No one will be motivated to play D3 because the ladder starts offering a trophy. Show me.

The rat trophy hasn't motivated play in ratting games during its dormancy. It remains because it isn't hurting anything or preventing play. But no one cares for it. Show me.

Go play D3. Its a great game I've not the skill for. When I see the volume of games, the demonstrated interest then, hell, I have a underused server in new jersey. How do I set it up for people to use. Show me.

The results you want are found from playing the game you want recognized. Making voice is pointless without action to back it up. Show me.
