Re: Ladder Enforcmenet -- Investigating some Irregularities
Followup:
Lotharbot asked Tylo (owner of the most extensive collection of Descent editions in the world
) -- to send him HOG and PIG files from every version he'd opened, so we could compare. He agreed to help out, and sent me the following:
D1 USA Loose
Descent Venture Pack Germany
Descent 1.0 Disk 1 February 01, 1996 Developers Disk
Descent Anniversary Edition
Descent Destination Saturn no manual
Descent Destination Saturn with Manual
Descent EUR Boxed
Descent I and II The Deffinitive Collection
Descent Pret a Jour France
Descent USA Boxed
Ok, cool. Do any match AOD_Hi's files?
Yeah, actually. The files in "Descent 1.0 Disk 1 February 01, 1996 Developers Disk" and "Descent USA Boxed" match AOD_Hi's files exactly, bit for bit.
. . . wait, "Descent USA Boxed"? Apparently. That implies that the commonly accepted fusion value . . . was patched in after release!
Who knew? (I sure didn't)
