New season! Mid 2017

Sorry it's a week late, but here's the switchover!

- Core levels have been updated! You can see the spreadsheet at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Core is now: Logic, Ascend, Lurk, Audacity, Crimson, Mindtrix, Athena, Salute, Flea. The only change from last season is that we've lost Vamped.

Wrath almost made it on its own merits, and the play seemed pretty evenly broken down between straight Wrath and the X versions. (And apparently someone made a shaker version? Whaaaa???) In spite of that, really poor performace in the "play twicer" category suggests that this is a hardcore following, not a broad one, and disqualifies it from core. Plus we've had this talk more than once and said no.

RIP also almost made it, but there was a big dropoff in total matches played so it wasn't close enough to really be "almost".

Very excitingly -- Droids almost made it, falling short by only a couple points in each category. It's very exciting to see a new level break in like that, and I for one feel it represents something pretty fresh as far as play goes, too. Very cool.

Extended Core is now: Core + Wrath, RIP, Droids, Ugh, Vamped, Take2, Fuzed, Nysa, Fable, Logic2, Black Rose. We've lost Savage, Killbox, Anarctic, and Nocturnal from last season, and gained Droids, Fable, and Logic2.

Logic2 and Black Rose were both marginal choices, but diversity is the point of extended core, so we erred on the side of more levels.

- We really gotta do props this time. And award the props from last time. Props are cool.

Wow, Droids is that popular? I thought it was one of those quirky oddball levels that people just play from time to time like Raziel, but I guess not. It does seem to be worthy of frequent play though.

Flat maps is a genre, not something DKH made, he may have revolutionized it but calling a brand new flat map DKH's partial creation is discrediting not only the creators work, but map making in general
