People are used to using the X feature....In case you didn't notice there is a missile cap feature too. So no need to change the typical load out. If you find the load out in logic to be too missile heavy cap it down to 6 or 2. Problem solved.

Except that creates another niche that, just like X4, would be recognized as a variant. Weapon loadouts as presented by the level author are the intended challenge. That's why Wrath was built to X4-quantity missiles out of the box, and why I support Wrath potentially reaching core: the level stands as built, and not requiring mods.

Of course then there's the argument of the old NH level variants, but that was due to pressures regarding framerate dependent play.

The authors intent isn't particularly relevant. How pilots choose to compete in their level IS. If everyone played athena mcap 6 because the majority of pilots feel it is the best way to compete in that level then athena mcap 6 becomes core...author's original intention be damned.

Athena is better vanilla in my opinion, just like IO, aglaia and logic, they all were created with enough secondaries to either boat or control, and from there it's up to the pilot to adapt to their opponents style etc.

You may be surprised how quickly I adapt from Xs to NM. Just ask Mark.

I consider Athena mc2 lv to be the closest to old Athena late game. Some missiles, but primary dominant, and vulcan is situational.
