I've converted one of the maps I've made for Overload back to D1. Would love to do more -- probably another one or two on the way within the next month or so, if all goes well. Ironically at ~6 hours this conversion took twice as much time to produce as the original map -- probably because I'm unfamiliar with using DLE's texturing workflow (and its limitations!). Big shoutouts to @Swarthy for his DLE tutorials on YouTube -- real lifesaver. Intended for 1v1 action, but I'd be interested to see how duos/trios games shake out in here. Scaling and such feels ever-so-slightly off compared to how this flies in Overload...I think contrary to what Revival says the ships are pretty different in how they see and move through the environment. Tactics and engagement flow in here are going to be markedly different than what was designed for -- Overload's 1:1 pitch/yaw controls opens up a lot possibility in map design that D1 really can't capitalize on, at least in the current meta. To keep with how this is lit in Overload and the map aesthetic, I turned the lighting wayyyy down in here -- ~45% if I recall. Pretty dim but still hopefully readable (even through the atrocious texture work) -- might be a good map to practice flare misdirection and the like. Still, a fun exercise to build, maybe a fun map for a couple of games? Let me know what you think.
