New Level Announcements
Re: New Level Announcements
I was looking through my mission directory the other day when I stumbled across Octave Pro. Its a fine level no doubt but having flown it for a minute, a number of problems became apparent to me. So heres a new level I'm calling Octave 4/Octave Pro 1.2 (the next stage in the evolution of Octave Pro originally by Lotharbot).

So whats different?
+ the lighting has been recast to bring life into the mine.
+ the textures have been updated to reinvigorate the mine.
+ all of the primary weapons have been added as the original author had forgotten to add them (its an easy mistake, dont hold it against him).
+ a mega missile has been added to bring the level in line with the competitive standard of Descent levels.
+ the shape of the central cube has been modified, each central point of the face has been extruded to allow players to camp within the central cube (as was intended for the original level).
+ the shape of the outer points have been flatened.
+ the spawn points have been relocated.
+ the weapon placements have been relocated.
+ the energy centres have been moved to the the six flat outer walls of the map.
+ big yellow smiley faces have been added to the level to bring joy to visiting players and to remind them that having fun is a key component of playing Descent.
Theres no need to thank me honestly man, don't worry about it. Given the time, I know you would have addressed these problems yourself. Thanks for making the level in the first place, as I couldn't have done this without you. And please, I can't take any of the credit so be sure to thank Lotharbot personally as he was the real genius behind this level.
Thanks Brother

You know, I said I was going to release a new version like, last week... but... then there was life. (No football.)
So I put a smaller Faster (entitled "Fastest", just cuz), with the end room cut off, up on Dropbox: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/405 ... astest.zip
If anyone gets the chance to try it out, let me know how it goes. If you like it enough I'll send it to DMDB, otherwise I'll just move on to my next attempt at something, whatever that may be.
