the smart blobs are tracking while floating in a straight path AFTER they've disengaged, from ANY direction, and that's not right.

I have also literally seen a stream of plasma blobs from a smart missile track me, I dodge the line and turn around, and they start tracking me from behind them again. 360^2 tracking cone is mean

Pocket dodging = you move your ship around subtly to miss incoming shots.
Packet dodging = you move incoming shots around subtly (in space and/or time) to miss your ship.
