L1 trophy

If this is true, blind trophy and disorientation trophy should be removed.

EDIT: Also, I believe the trophy should only be able to be held by one player

Trophy activity in general is falling by the wayside. I often wonder if they are even necessary any more.

I could get the x trophy but I just don't care about trophies. Some people do and it seems to be even fewer people do now that I viewed the ladder for over a year.

One of the things I theoretically like about trophies is that it adds a certain incentive to try to play matches in both games.
But... in practice it hasn't helped me much. Between the fact that my enthusiasm level for the DCL is currently lower and I don't play much anyway, and the fact that to play for a D2 trophy I specifically need to find someone in gold tier who is willing to play the game - and there really aren't many - it just doesn't serve that purpose particularly well.

Which doesn't mean trophies are pointless, just that they don't help me much.

The trophies are to recognize achievements people already think are awesome, not to incentivize subgames. X4 games were played for about a year, and it was only when several people were trying to master the skill and people were bragging about beating certain pilots there that we said, "Hey, we need a trophy for this."

The ladder has been moving away from trophies for a while, but they're still some fun. My own theory is that as we get better, we have started to see incomplete contests as uninteresting.

Probably a fair point with the blind trophy. Not so sure about disorientation - there's always been a crowd that was interested in it, at least a little. As far as introducing a new one - gotta be an interesting and enduring subgame that at least a few people care about enough that they see victory there as noteworthy.
