Re: RANK REQ
It is certainly no small feat to beat the likes of Mark392. That is worth a trophy in and of itself.

Yeah, I've never done it. Not even on my best days.

Wow that info is inspiring as well as your win bahamut. Grats. Is there any way we can get stats like that on our personal profile page or is that a coding nightmare? It is very motivational to see a goal to work towards than to just guess as to where we stand in stats. Like a spreadsheet of players that updates and that we could see who we needed to focus on and score needed, it would be something (at least for me) to keep an interest in the ladder. Just my 2c.

If you click on the "dominance" number in your profile, it brings up a table. Here's bahamut's:
http://descentchampions.org/dominance_t ... &season=10
basically it adds up your record in your last 50 matches vs gold, but with a couple caveats (if you play one level, or one opponent, more than I think 20% of your total it'll count those matches for less -- so you can't just play the same person or the same level 50x in a row to boost your dominance factor, you have to be dominant against a bunch of different gold pilots and in a bunch of different levels. Any matches it scales down, it will bring in old matches to make up for the scaling.)
85% dominance means you can only lose 15% -- or 7.5 points out of 50. Bahamut has 4.0 points of losses against Souljah. That's a place to start picking up wins, and knock some of the older losses off of the list. Also work on winning streaks against Vainiac and Zero.

um, I would imagine that most ppl on the DCL know they can click on their dominance factor in the pilot profile and it brings them to that
now, I can click on it...but never really understood it easily
So, having access to it vs it being easy to understand what to do with that information are 2 different things

I would kinda like to see some sort of 'meter' that shows you what direction u are going in as it relates to skill rating and GOLD dominance that udpates after each match played.
perhaps including target scores vs any given opponent so you know what to shoot for as it relates to trying to make Diamond....I dunno
I haven't fully thought this out...just sayin

For skill ratings: generally speaking, to make diamond, your target score should be to beat the top gold pilots by 20-16 (a 24-20 pace by the skill ratings), and low gold pilots by 20-12 (a 24-15 pace). You should be holding silver pilots to 8 or 9, and bronze to 5 or less. And when you give up scores that are too high, it can take 2-3 matches of holding them to lower scores to make up for it.
Looking over bahamut's match history (without looking into any secret ladder stuff) -- I'm seeing a lot of diamond type scores, but not enough consistency, and that holds the skill rating back a little. From silver, giving up 15 to roncli and a lot of double-digit scores to Lee is something to remedy; next time you rematch those guys, hold them to 8 (for comparison, Jediluke vs Lee this season averages 20-6, Jediluke vs roncli 20-7, and Mark392 vs Lee 20-5.) Beat Zero, Vainiac, melvin, and Cyrus each a few times in a row with an average of about 20-14 for the group. Don't just play those guys and go for a narrow win. Dominate them.
