Any update on L17 core / extended core changes?
Re: Any update on L17 core / extended core changes?
Lee, as I began reading your post I thought you were being comical....as I read further I realized that you were being serious. I'm genuinely surprised that you have so grossly misinterpreted what was said and the intention behind it.
I wholeheartedly apologize for the way it apparently made you feel as you couldn't be further off the mark from how it was intended.
I'm disappointed that the conversation, in hindsight, was such an apparent failure.
But Lothar described the purpose of core best in the post above. It is to prevent current top-ranked players from doing what former top ranked players on other ladders have done in the past....angle and/or dodge. It has been wholistically successful in that venture.

Comment timed out. No offence intended. You made good points. I didn't agree with them all.

I just want to say that I'm impressed with the way you've carried yourself through this, Leto. I was very annoyed and unhappy with what you were saying, sure, and unhappy with how far the whole thing went and how long it went on. But. BUT! Arguing with a big group over voice by yourself, especially when the people opposing you are folks like me and Jeds and Lotharbot and Morfod, speaking your mind even though you're uncomfortable and staying with the give and take of the conversation . . .
. . . that takes courage, man. That takes *pilot* courage.
I remember reading a description of fighter pilots, the kind in jets not in video games, but still -- that said if you're going to be a pilot, and you're going to thrive, you have to be the sort of person who will pick a fight, at long odds, all by yourself, and go on to win it. Crazy individualistic and self-reliant and aggressive and resolute. And doesn't that just describe our experience in the mines? I think so. And that's certainly what I think I just saw.
I'm always telling people to go *talk* to the folks they have problems with, to get out there and solve their own problems and confront issues and make things better -- not to simmer in silence. That's an element of character that I think is strengthened by this game, and a very worthwhile thing. What I'm tryin' to say is -- well done, dude.

Thank you, Drakona. Thank you roncli and Lothar, for the kind words earlier in the thread as well. I feel strongly about these (sometimes abstract, and applicable to all games) ideas, and I think some of these ideas are shared by others. It is very nice to be able to discuss all of this.
