It'll just be "third third" now.

I still don't think that we should implement something where the complaint can move from "I was away 4 times against one pilot" to "I was away 4 times in one touranment" because I really think the latter is worse. Being away multiple times against the same pilot over the course of multiple tournaments is far better than potentially having your placement in a season tank because you never get your home choice over the course of an entire tournament. Now, if we had an actual league with scheduled games, we could do something about this, but I can't see how that can be done when we don't know who's going to be in an event until game time.
I'm also considering that Jedi is oh-for-Mark392 and Melvin is oh-for-Jediluke, including finals tournaments, regardless of who's home.
Let me be perfectly clear on the above. I need far more convincing that the above is a problem to implement a solution, and I don't want to implement a solution that could then cause a worse problem.
Currently, new home levels are required to be in by 11:59 PM PT Thursday. I think that's plenty of time, both for the pilot to change the level, and for other pilots to get familiar with it. I don't want to make exceptions for any levels because they may be widely known, just don't wait until the last minute and you're fine. I think I'll make a channel specifically for level swapping during the season.
For the wildcard game, I do NOT want to be responsible for picking levels. I do and have thrown out levels that wouldn't work for an observed anarchy game, however. Let me simplify the question... should primaries be forced to be multiplied enough that all pilots can get primaries, or should we be clear that the pilot picking the level decides how to multiply the primaries and then they can decide?
Best idea in the thread so far was reducing scores on earlier games and keeping the finals at 20. (Thanks Lothar!) I suggest 10 for the quarterfinals, 15 for the semis, and 20 for the finals. Does this sound good?
One more proposal I want to throw in... currently, pilots are ordered by wins when selecting their opponent in their next round. I want to change this to wins minus losses. The reason is that when a high level pilot joins in round 4, he shouldn't be playing a low level pilot just because they both have 0 wins.

so, basically, all suggestions by multiple participants are thrown out.....which is fine...it's your show. Just kinda feels like our opinions on the matter .....well didn't matter.
shortening the games....I get it from a time constraint perspective...though games less than 20 have very little meaning for me. Completely eliminating 2nd half Jedi. gee, sounds great
Don't get me wrong, I totally appreciate what you do for the community and I'll take what I can get. Just throwing my 2 cents out there.

No need to be overly dramatic. Let me put it another way.
What I'm being told is "I'm away against Mark392 3 times in a row". What I'm not being told is why this is a serious problem that I need to change how it works for everyone, or being given something that would improve the format. Trust me, I hear the complaints and want to make the show better. I've made a good number of changes over the seasons for that very reason. In this case, I don't think what's being proposed here makes it better.
Remember that matches in the finals tournament are combined score. You're not playing a full match to 10 unless you win 10 to -1. Close matches can go the distance or close to it.

Yo Ron!
I actually changed my mind twice while writing some early drafts of this and almost closed up the browser tab thinking "Yup, Roncli got this one right" at one point. Ultimately, beyond the fact that i have immense respect for you for running this tournament and will enjoy competing in it no matter what you decide, it all boils down to the following:
I agree with you insofar as I think I would rather have (over the course of one 3 week prelim tourney) a competitor play ONE opponent AWAY every game than have someone end up playing 8 out of 12 games AWAY. (the flip side of the coin, 8 of 12 home games is also gross) However, one of these situations has been happening for 5 straight seasons, twice per season. The other is hypothetical. We (I) don't even know how likely it is, which seems like a crucial piece of information for making your decision. Would you consider making the necessary changes and implementing them for one season?
edited to note that I went back and checked and I've never played jedi in my home in a prelim in 7 opportunities

Also, would you consider reseeding a bracket? I fully participated in the prelims, earned enough points to get 3rd place, top seed of the quarterfinals and was rewarded by getting to play Mark187. In this instance I would have preferred the participation reward of choosing my opponent as top non-bye seed. Thoughts?
(Maybe my reward for getting 3rd is not having to play the top overall seed in the semis if I win in the quarters. I'm good either way, but it seems like there's a low participation landmine (mark, baha) coming out of the wildcard tourney over the past couple of seasons, where being the three seed is a disadvantage. )
