Re: New season! Mid 2017
joking aside...
If the goal is to insure that code gives credit where credit is due then the conversation should have gone like this...
Community Member: Hey Code, I noticed you uploaded a level called intel that does not offer up a txt file that points out who you took your inspiration from and/or who may have helped you in the designing of this level. I feel strongly about giving credit to those who influenced levels that I build as it pays respect to those builders that came before me. I think it would be great if you would include a TXT file that credited DKH since it seems that Logic was a source of inspiration.....etc
But this adult approach was not taken and instead we got all the BS that ensued.
PS.
I also missed the part where code was trying to declare his originality as it relates to intel and hide any possible connection to the source of said inspiration.

Jedi I remember hearing you and code talking about designing the level, and the word Logic being compared/referenced, so its not quite just making a 3 cube dogroom. Sure, you can CHOOSE to not give people credit. Your right as an Amurrican! However, I think giving credit is the right thing to do. Giving credit doesn't diminish the author in any way; it is just being nice. Imagine 20 years from now if Swarthy or DKH maps are reimagined, I think the community would prefer those guys at least get mentions.
As for the Code/Rethink Intel2 situation, I thought that was so obviously a joke it didn't warrant a mentioning? What Rethink did as a 100% joke isn't the same issue as the fact that I think it would be kind to give level designers that have had portions of their levels copied some credit.
However I do agree with you that in the future just contacting Code politely would be the best solution regarding credit. I also agree with Phyrex that we're perhaps giving Code too hard of a time. He certainly contributes to the cycle but I think being nicer is always a good solution.

Lee c'mon that is unfair. I think it's true what you're saying that a lot of pilots take breaks when the results don't match their hopes. However, they may take a break and find peace/enjoyment in other areas of life, and when they return to the community they could be turned on/off by different things. One might take a break due to theior own competitiveness, then when returning feel a bit put off by the environment that begat that overly competitiveness that caused the break in the first place.

Lee, I'm not 'coming after you'. You seemed to have made some remarks towards phyrex that came across as harsh and unrelated to the issue being discussed. To ensure I was not misreading it I made a post pointing out how it came across and gave you the opportunity to speak to it in a way that would less likely be misinterpreted.
I also did so in a way that expressed my feelings about you, which are genuinely positive.
Your post leads me to believe that you are feeling very strong emotions right now and they are flavoring your posts at this point.
I'm not attacking you nor am I insinuating that Maestro is off the hook.
My post about how it should have been handled was actually with Maestro in mind.
Code does not have license to act however he wishes with no semblance or repercussion simply because he is 14. Sometimes I am childish in the things I say to him and at other times I speak to him as though I were personally responsible for how he turns out as an adult. I am no perfect example and I am not trying to pretend to be one.
I suspect that I literally TALK to code directly about these issues when they come up more so than you do or Maestro does. At times his immaturity is quite evident and at other times he proves to me that he is far more mature than I was as it relates to his chosen reaction or lack-there-of or interpretation of events and ownership of his involvement than I would have been at his age.
My goal was to understand the root problem and find a solution that would have yielded the desired result with the least collateral damage. These posts are coming across more like an attack than a genuine desire to resolve an issue that y'all feel strongly about (issue: give credit where credit is due).
IMO his age had very little to do with what the problem was. Also, (myself included) we have all acted as though we were 14 or younger at times. Some of us have acted that way in this thread.
I'm not perfect, I recognize that. Code recognizes he is not perfect either. He DOES try though. I see it. Others have seen it. At times he acts more mature than some of us. At times he does not.
Lee, I still love you bro and have respect for you. Take a step back and take a deep breath. I'm not attacking you.

I have no doubt there are better words for me to convey my feelings but I don't anticipate successfully coming up with them at the moment.
I just think maestro could have employed a more successful strategy to accomplish what he wanted and that lee could have been less personally pointed towards phyrex. I ain't mad at nobody but felt things were getting ridiculous and wanted to point that out.
