So, I've been thinking lately about hanging up the hat and calling it a Descent career. I believe that the reason I'm having these thoughts and taking them seriously is due to a lack of varied activity on the DCL.

There seems to be very few people that are currently playing. Kudos to those of you that are being active.....but it's dwindled down to a point where I am feeling like there isn't much reason for me to stay around on the ladder.

I'm bringing this up because I wanted you all to be aware that there is a high probability of me being far less active or likely retired after the LAN coming up unless of course this activity level changes and my interest gets piqued due to more people seeking out matches than what we currently have.

This is not a 'threat' designed to get people to unretire and play. I just wanted to be honest about where I am with the DCL as it stands.

More ppl / more activity / jedi stays longer ((would also be nice to get some new features or what not on the DCL))

more of the same or less than what we already have and I see little reason to stick around

don't get too excited Cyrus....I wouldn't want to play it 'competitively'....at least not like you are. I'd hope to transition to 'casual gamer'

For the time I have been here, Inactivity bounces through the community. It's nothing new, compared to the end of last year we do have less activity but just recently we had an extreme drought, however right now, we are doing "OK" to the standards we have recently experienced. (This is all that I've been apart of at least), im sure you could list other times where inactivity bounced >> that's normal in Communities

I mean we got Dj, Birddog, and some other mentionable pilots coming back... or at least playing games. You got Brian almost graduating. I mean the DCL is Far from Dead, and it's not even Inactive, but it isn't Flourishing with activity

Im not going to tell you to not retire because of the long history and dedication you've given to this ladder, and the Descent community... but the activity has been close if not the same for years, yet you've squeezed in HUNDREDS of games.

The real question stands, do you really want to leave?

I understand what you are saying code. Maybe I'll feel differently later. I'm staying around at this point because I already bought my non-refundable plane ticket to the Denver LAN. I'm not saying that there is no one left to play and that the DCL is dead.

I just don't feel like there are enough people and activity to maintain my interest. I generally feel like there is nothing left for me to play for. It's much easier for me to walk away when people are retired/inactive and no new people or no new old players are joining up.

I suppose the good news is that the LAN isn't until the end of July....so that's 3 more months. We'll see what happens between now and then.
