Re: professing my love
yeah.....but that last 15% might end up being too crucial for us to ignore

I think the 15% will be enough that it won't be ladder-caliber. But it also might be enough that we can solve it with maps and custom game settings. We *might* have to write a p2p module for it as well. I don't really know.

As it stands I'm not sure how anyone can take Overload h2h serious. No maps (sure sometime in the future), weapons/mods unbalanced (sure you can take them out and make people play with the same mods), lack of servers (will change in the future), p2p should already be an option but it is what it is, and so on. I don't see myself playing this game other than to troll people and break the game (like blarget does in d1).

I'm actually not as down on it as Ernie seems. The biggest thing is going to be the network architecture, I never see any competitive games happening when one person is at 30 ms and the other is at 150 ms. Weapon balance isn't that far off, I don't think the mods create that much imbalance, and they've already said user made maps are coming. I think more tweaking is still necessary for game settings, such as disallowing super weapon and shield powerups though. So I don't think we'll be throwing ourselves into 1v1s on launch day, but there's some potential here. Overall I've been impressed with the responsiveness of the team, much better than my experience with the D:U devs at least.

The D:U team was always good with communication, with their weekly playsessions/streaming/forum posts. Much less so with implementing changes to core gameplay. I always got the sense they wanted to make a 6DOF game, not a Descent game.

As far as I've seen being on Discord and through the community. They are very responsive to the recommendations. It's actually very appealing. I like a team that is not only very active but responsive to the community to the point of building and changing how the game functions. Its what I've wanted in a game for a long time
As soon as I am able to run the game, I will 100% be playing it, in disregard to the things I've said about it in the past... The updates and responsiveness have really changed my opinion about the game
And keep in mind it's not going to be perfect, Descent is one of those games where besides hard effort you will never be able to recreate it. I am however supportive to Overload as they aren't doing a bad job, but as i've said before... I dont get the Descent feel from the game

after playing a few games online with overload...... i think ill stay away from the online play. I dont like it being pretty much missile play only. Collect shoot run collect...BORING.. The lag makes all AOE missiles feel like they blow up the whole level and not the range that they should. Got a long list of stuff but leaving at that.

Thanks for the input, Ernie.
For those who have bought the game, How is it?
