What Joystick?

The standard modern Joystick for Descent seems to be http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Extreme- ... B00009OY9U -- picking one of those up would probably be easier than learning mouse!

yeah, a lot of people have transitioned to mouse, and they do pretty well. I use the Logitech stick and I'm not bad. Some people still have working 3d pros (Arch made a set of converters a few months back.)

Yeah, I have Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I bought it years ago, and I've always had issues with it. Not just because of the really wide pivot, either. Mostly it's been with drifting and inconsistent directional sensitivity. Last time I think I hacked some config files to adjust sensitivity per direction. Maybe I'll put some more time into that tonight.

I would like to get one of Grendel's adapters, but I don't have the time right now to make my own. Does anyone sell them? And do they work on a Mac?

Inconsistent sensitivity . . . sounds like you might have a bad stick. Maybe get another one? You can usually get them off the shelf at Best Buy or some such place.

You can independently set the dead zone in Descent itself, which usually takes care of drifting.

I don't think anyone's selling any Grendel adapters at the moment, but a few pilots bought spares during the last run. The Old School Kali Kahn Facebook group would be the place to ask, if you want to see if you can buy someone's backup. Arch (Adam Gensler) was the guy making them -- he'd know where they ended up, and if there were spares to be had.

They do work on a mac.
