Descent mouse movement bug, and workaround

Re: Descent mouse movement bug, and workaround
But I like the idea of accumulating leftover mouse motion between frames and letting the ship catch up to where you were trying to move it to, given a little time. That would preserve the distance-on-mousepad to distance-on-screen conversion that you're used to from FPSs without limited turn rate, though the lag if you turned too fast might make it hard to control. Might solve the panic-throw problem, too? Dunno. Might be good, might suck. Worth trying, at least.

My problem isn't left or right at all. They are alright (unless I get stressed out and I start moving faster.) My main problem is the up and down. This is just completely useless most of the time (it moves very little, very slow (if at all) compared to the keyboard up arrow.) I do not use rebirth mouse controls because its even slower overall for me but the tests are done in that because with old school settings doesn't highlight mouse movement events in the game.log file. (I am sure my speeds are different compared to old school settings. Problem is still there.)

That multi-modified-zifomatic seems like it's just like what I need, I'm having issues with (I think) physfs. Might you have a link to that?

I appreciate your exploration into the mouse turning issues Drakona. I still feel something is wrong with it. I will be happy to help test this with you if I can.

I bough Descent 3 to test and see if I have the same problems as I do in Descent 1 and 2. With Descent 3 you still have the problem but its not remotely as bad. Now only if I liked Descent 3. Again, thanks for all the people that are taking the time to look into these problems. I know off hand Roncli, Neg, AFP, and Drakona are all looking into this. If you need any help at all let me know and I'll help where I can. Thank you all again.
PS. DKH, thanks for bringing the topic up in the forums.

I too have the problem with looking up and down. I even remember having it in D2X-XL a long time ago, but haven't tried it recently.

I agree the problem exists in D3, but much less pronounced. Also the problem with zipping the mouse across the mouse pad exists in D3 as well, it's all about small, non-panicky movements, or you're not moving as far as you think. Of course, D3 is still closed source, so no fixing that one.
Soon as Drak gets me the tool chain she's using, I'll try compiling again.

I do recall the up/down mouse movement in D1/2 is intentionally slower than left/right but it should match keyboard...
Strangely D3 is the one where I have mouse problems - it skips and I couldn't find a way to fix it. Was the thing that made me finally ditch it completely...

There was a game played recently where one of the players indicated mouse is fixed? What is the fix?
