Entropy playing Descent 3:
Sorry I could only stay for one game, it was sort of fun though.

too funny Entropy! I'm glad you came, but I'm sorry you didn't have a better time. Practice makes perfect!

Those were good times! Sorry I didn't get back in time for Glasshouse, but Polaris was pretty epic. I love how much vertical there is on that map, and it plays very well with a sufficiently large group. A lot of time was spent with both teams possessing the flags, and combat could happen almost anywhere.
Also I swear I am not colorblind. Colordumb maybe. :p

I actually enjoyed the glasshouse game better. Polaris IMO needs more ppl, and prolly would be epic if everyone on each team was in mumble.
I'd never been in glasshouse before and had to look at the automap to figure it out, but eventually got it. cept for the couple times my fighting turns were into a wall. but the layout and size of the place made for communicationless, mostly know what to do fun.
thanks again Silver. these games are really the only time I ever play anymore, but they are fun for sure.

Thank you to all who showed last night!
We played a 5 v 5 game in Polaris. Then when a few pilots left we moved on to Glasshouse and played some 3 v 3.
Remember - there is a Sunday game as well! Starts at 3 pm EST (9 pm CEST/CEDT). Hopefully a few European pilots will show up for this one. We may get a full 16 player Polaris game yet.
Thank you Do_Checkor, Roncli & Lothar for helping spread the word! And, of course, Thank You Foil for hosting!

I think both levels displayed what I was talking about in terms of CTF being more strategic than WA2 really allows for. There was a lot more hunting, hiding, choosing alternate routes (under the bottom of Polaris? Sneak up to the wind tunnel? Use the center loop in Glasshouse?) and action all around the map. There were times when I'd guard the flag, times when I'd run, times when I'd use "I have your team's flag" as a defense (can't capture mine!), and overall just a great deal of variety in play.

That was my first time ever playing in Glasshouse. I had to download it a few days beforehand and pre-fly it so I wouldn't be lost in-game. I have played in Polaris before, but it had been so long I had to refresh my memory and pre-fly that one, too. I enjoyed playing in both levels immensely! They are better than WA2. I also thought about what you said and decided to fly a Pyro instead of a Pheonix. I figured if it didn't work out for me I could always switch out mid-game. I never switched. I think I benefited from the fact that I always fly the Pyro in anarchy games etc., so I am more familiar with the handling. It also has better shields, which is nice. I think I will be using the Pyro more often in future CTF games.
