Maybe roncli can rip out that part and put it on "The YouTube".

I watched it once at regular speed and thought "This is sort of why I think plasma is the weakest of the 5 primaries." Then I watched it frame-by-frame around 64%. "Oh yeah this looks good. Yeah that homer won't curve to hit." Then the homer in question happens. I say to myself "What a wonderf--" er, "Hmm, only if he tri-chords at a perpendicular angle right now will that be dodged." I see the next frame happens and Cyrus actually starts to move backwards "Oh yeah that'll hit guaranteed then." Frame by frame, the homer gets closer and closer until it finally hits. And then... zero damage? lolwut
Definitely kind of a strange thing to happen. Looking at it some more, a plasma bullet (exactly one) and the homer seem to hit on exactly the same frame. Some kind of magical once-in-a-lifetime bug? Installation error? Corrupted file?
(Ah, nevermind. The plasma bullet and homer hitting is just an oddity with numbers being updated in the demo when rewinding/fastforwarding. If you go back from the next hit, the shield has the proper -11 from the plasma bullet. So it's just the homer that did nothing.)

Well, I'm at work and I can't watch the demo here. I don't have descent.
I'd like to see Drakona's explanation. I know I got the game from GOG or whatever site you guys told me to go to when I first started. So, I'm pretty sure whatever I have is correct, but I will gladly share my descent folder when I get to my home computer.
I'm pretty sure I take all the right damage rates. I love that there's a forum post about regular behavior in descent though? A dropped packet or a missile actually missed?
OFFTOPIC:
Lately, I've been getting teased, yelled at, and screamed at for not taking enough damage (from two particular opponents) and truthfully it's annoying as shit. It's a sin if I walk away from a battle with 10 or less shields, sorry but it happened.
I'm here to have fun. I'm here to be competitive and I'm here to beat you. I'm striving to be the best at this game - hands down, and I thought that's usually what everyone is attempting?
I'm starting to think, what is the actual point? I have to mute opponents (and by the way this is a pretty small community) whom I'm playing with that are normally awesome people in everyday conversation and in real life? It's pretty ridiculous that I HAVE to do this to have fun.
I truthfully see why the rangers are so appealing to some people...they don't deal with people flying off the handle. I'm starting to lose the drive to excel, which is sad.
The most fun I had yesterday was playing Mark who literally beat the crap out of me, but he didn't complain once and he never has. It seems as if winning OR doing better than expected against opponents is no longer fun. I'd rather play to my full potential and get the crap beat out of me by someone who's not going to bitch and complain.
I find myself going into autopilot immediately following the previous game just because of how pissed off I made my opponent before. I almost feel bad for how mad you guys get. I don't understand it - this shit is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be fulfilling to outplay you opponent and get outplayed by your opponent (you get to learn something new or learn to condition yourself differently).
Well, I'm glad I got that off my chest! That's all I have to say.

Morfod, I'd like to see your demo for mindtrix also. I think that'll clarify this mystery homer

I realize this. So how do we assume that this missile doesn't pass by my ship into the other room - causing me not to take splash damage?

I see him hit me with one blob from a plasma shot.
Shoot the 1st homer and miss.
Shoot a 2nd homer and hit me.
Shoot a 3rd homer and it clearly goes to my right.
What am I failing to understand?
Also here is my descent folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i0zoq9f7hp6km ... t.rar?dl=0
