So, I found a gauss ammo bug today (during my match with Strife, actually).

If you're carrying a gauss but NOT a vulcan and you die, you drop the gauss stocked with ammo . . . and then you drop all the ammo packs. So the ammo is duped.

The bug affects all game modes, including co-op and single player, and I confirmed its existence in Retro 1.3, Vanilla 0.58.1, and . . . original D2. Apparently this has been going on for the last 18 years, and nobody noticed before now. (What? WHAT?!?!?)

I do have a fix for it, but it will have a PROFOUND impact on how much gauss ammo is available in a lot of levels, particularly levels like Keg Party, Barathrum, Dissent 2, Pyromania, Vamped . . . basically any level with gauss and no vulcan. You may find gauss underpowered, or at least underammoed now. And while I'm having a hard time seeing complaints about that, I am nervous; this fix amounts to a big change. So play with it, see if you like it, use 1.3 if you don't.

Anyway. I said I wouldn't touch the game again for months, but a bug like that is worth speaking English for. May your gauss ammo counts be stable henceforth.
