Well...he clearly did not receive his check in the mail, or he just reneged on our deal and kept the money. I am giving him the cold shoulder and cancelling my subscription to his podcast if I don't beat PFunk. Otherwise, I have 4 points to play with and it's all good.
[NOT FOR PFUNK'S EYES]
Seriously though, Roncli controlled that game and thanks to him I will walk away with MANY lessons learned. The biggest lesson that actually sunk in was to NEVER and I mean NEVER EVER underestimate your opponent at ANY point in the game. I simply cannot emphasize this enough!!!
I went into the match thinking the algorithm said I should be able to take him 20-14 and that made me pretty cocky. This was VERY bad and I feel it ultimately cost me the match. (my attitude that is)
Roncli's game was on. He made some good points in his match comments, which to me, are golden and I appreciate them. Yes, he did keep coming at me from ways I wasn't expecting (mindtrix) and he was very stealthy, if you can be stealthy in there and yes his positioning was nearly perfect. I did feel that I was mothing bad but that was because he was always 2 feet behind me with that damn thing. No one chases me with a fusion when I have a vulcan but he did and I was like WTF!!! He broke me mentally to the point that I literally could not fly.
In my other promo matches I definitely felt like the underdog and so I played with respect for my opponent and played smart and patient. Don't get me wrong I do respect Roncli very much but, like I said, I got bold and too confident and he knew it i think and played on that. Well done to you sir!
At this point I am returning to my humble state of admiration for the pilots who have their mental game down and I will NEVER underestimate my opponent. Roncli may have been gone but he clearly can still rock his pyro...and seriously watch out for his fusion...I've never been controlled with a slow gun like that.

yeah, that's exactly where your thought process needs to be. The higher up the ladder you go, the more ready you need to be to *always* bring it. You can't just assume that because someone puts up weak scores against other people, you're going to handle them easily. They might do things that you have trouble handling, and you need to make adjustments. You can't give away kills and give away cheap damage and give away positional advantages. You have to fight for them, or you'll get embarrassed.

PFunk if you are out there, I will be on tonight from 7:30 until you sloth me to sleep at 10:30 p.m. If you can be here that would be a most delightful thing.

b2af was clearly confused, he still thinks he wants green numbers when he participates in challenges. That's called not doing your job, good sir!
On a related note, welcome to silver you two. Good to have more pilots with activity around for me to beat up on when I come back full time.

Everyone knows this, but because I was joking around, I will state it for the record:
I gave Swarthy my best in his Promo match in Mindtrix. His flying was great and I had a difficult time countering him. He took a small lead early on, and he held it well.
Swarthy, you have practiced long and hard, and your Silver wings have been well earned. Congratulations!
Don't get too comfortable, though - I will hunt you down soon to right the wrong that is 16 - 20 in Mindtrix. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
