Lag ???

Hey all. I played a match with Lionclaw (gg bro!) but we were pining like 256 to each other and there's only only like 300 miles between us and both live near a backbone. On Mumble we ping only 36 to each other.

..uh.. I don't get it.

??? can someone illuminate me please?

That's not a good sign. I have no idea what the cause might be, but that's not the first time I've heard of people who live close and have good internet having terrible connections in game. It's too bad, since those of us in the continental US typically have 50ms or less pings to each other on the regular internet, which should look downright lanlike in game. It nonetheless sometimes doesn't.

Was the ping of 256 in game stable, or are we looking at a spike?

Was the experience in game consistent with the reported 256? That's high enough you should REALLY be able to tell.

The game was lagging about that the whole time. I first thought it was just me, but as the game progressed, we were both having trouble hitting each other and needed to lead our shots a full 2 ship lengths. ..or at least I did.

At the end of the game I hit pause to grab a screen shot and noticed the ping. I don't know if the ping was fluctuating or not. If I can, I try to get together with Lionclaw tonight and try to replicate the situation.

It as kinda nostalgic in a way.
