Decided to retire
Hey guys! So -- I wanted to play through the pregnancy, and darn the statistics and how bad I got at the game, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to find time and energy to play at all, let alone at a ladder level. And when I do play, I wear out fast, and don't think clearly, and the results are pretty inconsistent. I feel I'm not upholding the standard of tough competition by trying to continue to play. Or more like, pretending I'm going to try to play. It's very possible the only one I'm fooling about that at this point is me.
Anyway. Looking forward, the meds aren't changing, the fatigue is traditionally bad in the first and third trimester, and I just entered the third. That means that as impossible as it has been to get a game with me recently, I have every reason to expect that's going to get worse.
So I'll be honest about it and see you all in a couple months.
I do intend to stick around and fix things that break on the ladder. Don't be shy about sending me a message if something is broken. And I do intend to keep up with the admin stuff (mostly the programmatic stuff only I can do -- actual player disputes, lean on the other two guys as a first resort and I'll help out if I think I can), but if it seems I'm too out of touch or unavailable to do that job too, I'll ask someone else to do it for me while I'm out.
Due date's Dec 12th. There are some minor but not yet scary complications such that the doctor says we're not going past that and could well choose to induce as much as three weeks early. Whenever the baby comes, give it a few weeks after that and that's when I expect to be a little more myself. Sleep deprived, but at least somewhat less on drugs.
See you guys then!
