Rules Documentation - Stopping Promo/Demo Challenges Short
We've been handling it this way case by case for a while, but we seem to make the same decision every time so let's make it official: If you have won or lost a challenge (in the sense that the remaining games don't matter), you have the option to close it. When I have a chance I'll give you a button on the site -- for now you have to send me a note and I'll do it by hand.
Do be considerate that challenges are historic, and some pilots may want to be a part of yours -- if there's someone waiting to be a part of history, consider taking the time to give them the games. But it is up to you.

To clarify the "be considerate" point:
if your challenge is already won but someone is signed up for a remaining slot, it would be considerate to ask them if they want to play anyway so they get to have their name and score on your challenge, or if they're OK with you closing it. And if you are the person who is holding that last spot, it would be considerate to either arrange to play right away or to bow out and let the person close their challenge.

Speaking of which, I'd be willing to withdraw from Vainiac's challenge unless he really wants to play it - I didn't expect it to go this fast and thought I had time to get back in shape Oh well.
