So what's happened lately?
My plans to attend college and start playing Descent again got pushed back from the start of this year to now, so it seems like I will start playing some of this amazing game again. What's been going on in the past little while? I've checked in here sporadically and learned that Jeds lost to a bronze, we seem to have a lot more active silver. mormelfodvin are gold.
Some new maps have come out, including lots of new maps made by Swarthy and Big Rat, some of them seem pretty cool.
Anything else? I've played a bit of Overload and saw they're going to make multiplayer. Played a few games of D:U this week as well, seems alright but mostly dead when I have checked for games.
I plan to, now that I have a nice regular schedule, schedule some time to play games and try making levels of my own. I have changed my home level to Fringe and will try to play everyone on it, as well as fight everyone in their own home levels. And now that I'm a full time student at the college, I am going to do what I can to start a Descent club and try to play LAN every week or so. If it ends up working out, and I don't think it will at all, then maybe I will have a nice big tourney that some of you could come and join. I mentioned this before and it's still on my mind.
[Edit] Are there any good demos to watch? Any 1v1 games with Birdseye from either perspective? I saw Drakona beat Mark in a game, going to watch that demo now. Maybe I should watch the demo where Jeds loses to Bronze too haha.

Watch the latest Jeds vs Mark. 70 minutes of Nysa. 9 suicides. And FANTASTIC Descent.

Did Jedi even record that bronze game? If I recall correctly it was a fusion match (pretty much the only thing there was enough variance in for that result to be possible, short of playing D3 anyway).
What state do you live in? I suspect it's not really close to me but might as well ask.

I will check it out Roncli.
Sirius I live in Ontario Canada, which is Eastern Time Zone (-5).
On the match of Jediluke vs Birddog there's a demo link from jeds but it's not active anymore.
Is there a demo pack from the last big LAN like there was in 2015?
Just saw that Mark's lifetime history against Jediluke is 25-25. That's pretty awesome.

I've likely improved somewhat with fusion since that game occurred.
Perhaps for obvious reasons.
at least I had balls enough to try it.

I'd say. That Fusion Hulk run of yours in Power Pro was frightening.

I was considering appending that, but then I decided that nested parentheses were like running too many levels of nested control statements... pretty soon nobody can make any sense of it.

IMO -- the Jedi vs Bronze game isn't particularly worth watching. Perfect storm of a pilot who is probably silver but happened to have been in bronze, who has gold-caliber fusion, catching a diamond pilot who wasn't particularly into fusion but who was willing to take on the challenge anyway. Pretty much looks like a fusion match aside from the names. Likewise, me v Jeds in Octave Pro isn't much to watch.
Birdseye 1v1 is unique, but he's not willing to play for stakes (Observatory or ladder), so you're not necessarily seeing either pilot playing their best.
I would say, look for Mark v Jeds, Mark v Drak, Jeds v Drak games that were either wins for the underdog or OT games. There have also been a handful of great games with Rethink, Souljah, bahamut, and Morfod worth grabbing demos for. And last week's Observatory had that great Jedi v melvin comeback.
Latest on D:U is they're dedicated to undersized hitboxes because they think it's going to magically be balanced. I've stopped being able to give them useful feedback because they'll have to throw it all away when they eventually fix the hitboxes -- or they'll never fix the hitboxes and they won't make a Descent-worthy game. Putting a lot of hope in Overload. I trust Mike and Matt -- they're a joy to work with, and really love what Descent became.
