I hope you aren't suggesting that a player can be (approximately) top 5 overall while relying on a single gun. If that were true, I think it might be worth investigating whether that gun is BROKE AS HECK, by gosh - deimos

So, because I put up good scores against the pilot I play the MOST my gun of choice is BROKE AS HECK? Really, if I was dominating other golds then maybe we could start that argument, but my scores against Luke presently do not translate to other pilots. I just know him THAT well. Furthermore, it's a FACT Luke's vulcan is much better than mine straight up. I'm better at long range and predictive shooting with the vulcan. That is it. So, I would NOT suggest that the gun is broken, only that I've done my best to be very effective with it. If I was running around using the vulcan and dominating everyone - I would also argue the case...to well..shut up and use it too? BUT that's not the case. Look at Baha. I'm deathly afraid to engage him if he has a spread, fusion, plasma, or vulcan out. I'm not scared of your lasers baha - that's it ;) - Cyrus
If I had 400 matches against any other pilot I am sure my scores would be substantially better than they are against Luke also. This is probably why I respect him so much. I know him THAT well. I've loaded up a game against this PRICK over 400x and walked away victorious only 9x! That is absolutely ridiculous and tells you he is constantly improving because I KNOW I am. - Cyrus
Also, I think deimos was disagreeing with Luke, so, even though I'm using his line it doesn't mean I'm arguing against him. I'm just kind of bothered by the fact all my hard work would be taken away by the fact that a lot of people can't handle my vulcan. - Cyrus
I've always been a super Vulcan guy... only in this day and age did I really master the rest of the weapons and their times and usages. From 95-02 I would use Vulcan till it ran out then switch to spread only. Not anymore! - Mark392

A wise man said you have no grounds claiming a tactic is overpowered until you *actually* go out and win a tournament with it, and I think that bears repeating here. Cyrus is not the best of us with vulcan in a straight up fight - there are other pilots I fear as much or more. But he has made it the centerpiece of his game to an extraordinary degree, which results in a very novel style. Such brilliance and novelty and success outside of conventional wisdom deserves to be celebrated, not dismissed. Beat him in the mines, not on the forums! But he's not unstoppable with that game, not to everyone, not in every place. For the moment, there are several alternative, similarly successful tactical niches. If you think it's so OP, crush the world with it and you might have a case. I don't think you will, though - opponents who over-rely on Vulcan, I know what to do about. It's the fusion runners who scare me. :) - Drakona

say all you want about it being a great skill....i'm not denying that...but regardless of whether or not he is a master with it or a novice...the fact that he ONLY shoots it....has really gotten annoying to me. It's almost as if the level only has vulcan in it. it's all I ever see coming my way. Now, go play THAT over 400 times and see if it gets a little old to you then come talk to me. - Jediluke
