If you are always engaged, you can--and must--create your own space! You must master creating your own maai! That is the path... - Mark392
Wrath is like . . . the trivial topology. All distances are zero. I think I understand. I need a couple Fortes again and then see if I can go back to wrath knowing that. I think I've almost got it. - Drakona
There is no maai, there is only your mind. That is where you must wage the battle. - LotharBot
. . . gyre and gimble in the wabe . . . - Drakona
Some people say we're crazy but ... But you and me we've got something to say ... Just because you think you're lucky well ... You and me we've got something inside I think we're gonna make it - LotharBot
*googles maai* Huh, a decent concept but there's a better way of looking at it imo. - Entropy
Well it means basically the range at which you can attack. I hadn't ever thought about it in a Descent context, but the game in Forte really was about that. About being at a range where you, with your weapon and your orientation could attack and land a hit faster than the other guy at his range and weapon and orientation and position in the level and so forth. Snobby way of saying, "struggle over small advantages in engagement range". Forte absolutely does work that way, particularly without the missiles. Don't overapply the concept, though. Wrath doesn't work that way. - Drakona
Another way to say it is, Forte is all about trying to get close enough to someone that you can hurt them. In Wrath, on the other hand, it is not possible to be far enough away from someone that they can't hurt you. Not even if they're in another room behind four walls and you can't see each other. - Drakona
